The Pile and Our Key 12

Well, it’s been a very long week! After 27 hours on the road in two days, we finally arrived in Maryland for a visit with family. Today, however, was the BIG day!! I am sitting in our Beatrice for the first time writing a post. Yippeee!! We’re finally here! After a three-hour drive to Colonial Airstream today, unpacking our car and trying to get all of our “stuff” organized, we’re pretty exhausted. After only being in our Airstream for less than 5 minutes, I had to call my friends Kelly and Steve to ask how to get the bed down after lifting up the platform (it wouldn’t go down). We both felt a little stupid but, Steve and Kelly helped us remedy the situation. Thank you dear friends! I’m sure there will be many more questions to ask the experienced Glampers! Hub’s is now lighting our oven for the first time and is going to pop open a bottle of vino and make us a spaghetti dinner. Phew ~ I’m feeling relieved after so much planning to get to this point. Below are pics of “The Pile”!

Tomorrow is our 9am walk-thru with a Colonial staff member. We’re really looking forward to this walk-thru because we have no clue about all the system or how to tow this 27′ baby! Here are a couple pics of the second we walked into Beatrice. She will evolve over the next couple weeks so more pics will be posted once I get her outfitted.

  3. Beatrice is so lovely! I’m glad nasty Sandy stayed away. If you are like us, and most new Airstremers, you will make 3 or 4 major goofs before you are totally comfortable. We made 2 on our very first camping trip, 1 a few week later, and one could-have-been-fatal error at Alumafandango in view of dozens fellow Airstreamers. The few direct witnesses of that blunder said “I’ve done that before”.

If you will be anywhere near the Asheville, NC area come by and visit. There is room to park the AS. Dan & Marlene and the kids (MaliMish) are here now.

    Bon voyage,

    Frank

  4. So happy for both of you! I love that you are fulfilling your dream and I know you have many amazing trips ahead with Beatrice!

  5. Congratulations! I enjoyed reading your post, because it was a lot like what we went through in October when we picked up our new 25 FB “Shiny” in Portland, Or. We amassed a bigger “pile” of stuff though… thanks in part to our 3/1/2 year old daughter’s important stuff!

We took a couple of days to drive home to N. Cal. along the coast and get to know her (Shiny) and are heading out in 2 weeks on our first week long trip to Disneyland!

I hope you have a great time! We have found the Airforum pages extremely helpful in figuring stuff out. If you ever make it to Northern CA, you are welcome to stop by!

  6. Ooooh, love the photo when your opening the door to your Beatrice! It’s the most wonderful feeling to have your dreams come true and another thing to be thankful this year! Yep, you’ll do a couple of bumps, but they will be part of the whole experience. You have a circle of Airstreamer friends that have been there and will be supporting you. Have a great and safe trip back home! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
