I’ve always had a yearning for travel and adventure. After crewing on a private, 167′ Feadship Motor Yacht for three years ~ crossing the Atlantic Ocean four times ~ spending my summers in the Med ~ winters Down Island, it’s time again for my next travel adventure. From sea to land, from a Motor Yacht to a Land Yacht, I’m ready to take the plunge into the world of “Glamping”.
My significant other (we’ll call him Hubs) and I attended the annual RV show just last month in Denver. We walked around the show for hours looking at all the “White Box” RV’s available. Dreaming of a vacation home that you can take anywhere, we toured TT’s (Travel Trailers), 5th Wheels, Toy Haulers and Motor Coaches. Exhausted and getting ready to leave and I saw the Silver tube and said to Hubs, “Just one more stop”. The Airstream! That gorgeous, shiny, aluminum-skinned tube. Why Airstream? Commonly known as the Land Yacht, the Airstream is the oldest manufacturer of recreational vehicles in the US. Since 1936, more than 65% of all Airstreams ever built are still on the road today. One step inside the 27′FB International Serenity, I said, “This is it~we are home!” The details, the design, the feel~search over, we were done. None of the White Boxes could compare. In less than 5 minutes, the obsession had started. Our new travel home was just a purchase away. OK~ now it’s a month and a half later, there hasn’t been a purchase just yet. We are taking our time, researching all there is to know about the Airstream, RV’ing and Glamping lifestyle. OK-you might be saying to yourself, what the heck is Glamping? Well, my friends, I have never been one to sleep on the ground in a tent with bugs and snakes as my roommates so, I’m really not your typical, camper. I’m a Glamper. I want the Rolls Royce of RV’s, I want the luxury of a Four Seasons Hotel, I want~well, yes-an Airstream Travel Trailer!! To help you understand the term,
Definition of Glamper:
Shorthand for glamorous camping; luxury camping. Satisfying your craving for the outdoors and your penchant for a good meal, nice glass of wine, and a comfortable bed.
And that about sums it up. So, the adventure begins. A new decade and beyond of fun, travel, adventure and more wildlife/nature photography.
Stay tuned as this new chapter unfolds for me and Hubs. I will be sharing our purchase, our travels, our adventures and everything we learn along the way. Thanks for being with us. Cheers!!
