I spent several years crewing on private yachts. I always appreciated the quality, design and sleek interiors of many motor yachts. So, much to my surprise and delight I learned that Airstream unveiled a new concept trailer at the National RV Trade Show this week in Louisville, KY called the Land Yacht. Inspired by luxury yachts and designed by Airstream in collaboration with Officinia Italiana Design and the maker of fine cabinetry, Technoform S.p.A ~ this new Airstream trailer will be a welcome improvement to the current high-end “Classic” model in current production. I can’t wait to see the new Land Yacht in person! Update: Airstream just added the Land Yacht Concept Trailer to their website. Click here to see more information and beautiful photos!
Today is a good day! Today is 10.11.12 and today is the day we purchased our very own Airstream! I’m so excited, I can barely write this post. After many months of research, attending rallies, touring various models, touring the Airstream Factory in Ohio and asking so many questions from current Airstream owners ~ we decided on a 2012, 27′ FB International Signature. We purchased our Airstream from Colonial Airstream in NJ. Lauren & Patrick Botticelli and their GM, David Starin have been wonderful to work with. They are all uber knowledgeable, patient and very accommodating to our needs being that we are in Denver. We look forward to the day that we can pick up our Airstream, Beatrice (yes, I had to name her!!). Will most likely be in November when we can make that long cross-country trip to see her for the first time. I will also be posting on our continued relationship with Colonial, our walk thru and all they will teach us “Newbies” about the systems, operations, towing etc. of our new girl. Yes, all Airstreams are girls just like sail boats and motor yachts!!
Some photos of Beatrice from Colonial’s website
So, after 137 blog posts I will finally be able post about our Airstream adventures. Many more photos to follow of when Beatrice is all decked out with her new bedding, decorative pillows and such. And, we’ll be posting about our “Maiden Voyage” with her across the great US of A. Wish us luck, we’re pretty nervous!!

Once again I would like to share more vintage Airstream photos. Thanks goes out to Airstream, Inc. for posting “Throwback Thursday” pics on Facebook. My first post on Throwback Thursday has some pretty nifty vintage shots as well. You can check those out here. Tomorrow I will be driving to Jackson Center, Ohio to tour the Airstream factory and I just can’t wait. Hmmm, maybe I should write a post about that, what do a think? Enjoy!!

How would you like to camp in the middle of a major city, inside a building? Well, now you can in Berlin ~ introducing Hutten Palast. Situated in a 20,000 sq ft loft, formerly a vacuum cleaner factory, Hutten Palast now houses three refurbished campers and three cozy wooden cabins as an alternative to a hotel stay. Berlin wanted to take part in the Airstream hotel craze that is sweeping the US, France and South Africa. For around $60 per night, you can ditch your typical hotel room and sleep in unique and comfortable digs. Wake up in the morning to freshly roasted coffee, croissants and even a stroll through their garden ~ that’s right, they have converted part of the loft into an outdoor garden oasis for guests. How divine!
Owners Silke Lorenzen and Sarah Vollmer take pride in not only their fabulous and fun accommodations but, also in their culinary offerings. The menu in the cafe is mainly vegetarian and they source out fresh ingredients from local suppliers. They are currently serving breakfast, light lunch and home-made cakes to patrons. Dinner is available starting this year. So, next time you are in Berlin, you must check out Hutten Palast for an overnight stay that you won’t soon forget!
